Silvery-mauve flowers, unlikely bright blue berries amongst grassy evergreen leaves, 15cm. Easy, half shade if possible. (Plant thriving). Bobs Score=5.0

OPHIOPOGON JABURAN 'VITTATUS'

The real thing and rare. (Liriope spicata 'Silver dragon' is often sold under this name.) Relatively large ghostly white flowers on white stems (which adds to the effect) Jul-Dec, cream vittate variegated leathery evergreen leaves, 20cm. Shade. Slow. (Plant thriving). Bobs Score=9.0

Narrow dark evergreen leaves, small silvery mauve flowers and bright blue berries, 18cm. Easy even dryISH shade. (Plant thriving). Bobs Score=5.0

OPHIOPOGON JAPONICUS 'COMPACTUS'

Very short evergreen lilyturf, 4cm. (Plant thriving).

OPHIOPOGON JAPONICUS 'KIGIMAFUKIDUMA'

Arching narrow silver leaves on a spreading plant, silvery flowers, bright blue berries, 15cm. Part shade, good soil. (Syn.O.'Silver Mist', 'Aritaki'.) (Plant thriving). Bobs Score=7.0

OPHIOPOGON JAPONICUS 'VITTATUS'

Cream vittate evergreen leaves, 20cm. The leaves are similar to Liriope spicata 'Silver Dragon' but not the same. I have yet to see the flowers. (Plant thriving).

OPHIOPOGON JAPONICUS zebra-striped

Broad transverse bands of creamy white on evergreen foliage. Slow. (Alive, but not in the best of health).

OPHIOPOGON LONGIFLORUS 'TAKASHI SHIMOMURA'

Cream evergreen vittate foliage like Liriope spicata 'Silver Dragon', 28cm. The flowers are very different. Spikes of open white bells Aug-Feb hidden amongst the foliage. (Plant thriving).

OPHIOPOGON PLANISCAPUS 'ALBOVARIEGATA'

= Liriope spicata Silver Dragon. (Plant thriving).

OPHIOPOGON PLANISCAPUS 'LITTLE TABBY'

Lovely silver-veined dark evergreen leaves in fans, white flowers Jun-Jul, 15cm. Shade. Very very slow to increase but easy and special. Introduced from Japan to USA in 1974. (Plant thriving). Bobs Score=8.5

OPHIOPOGON PLANISCAPUS 'NIGRESCENS'

Grassy everblack leaves and berries, violet flowers Jun-Aug, 12cm. Any soil, sun or shade. AGM. A good start to any colour scheme in lead planters - particularly with echeverias. (Plant thriving). Bobs Score=8.0

Silvery-white flowers over dark leaves, 20cm. Shade, good soil, not wet. Lovely. Easy. (Plant thriving). Bobs Score=7.5

Distinctive pretty hanging blue bells with flared petals above grassy foliage Jul-Sep, 25cm. Easy but prefers light shade. (Destroyed - not good enough). Bobs Score=6.0
